Introduction

Octostitch is a desktop embroidery digitiser — the tool that turns artwork and ideas into a stitch file your embroidery machine can sew. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and it’s a one-time purchase: buy it once, own it, and keep getting updates.

An embroidery machine doesn’t read pictures — it reads a list of needle points and colour changes. Digitising is the craft of deciding how a design should be stitched: where the thread goes, which stitch type fills each shape, what order the colours sew in, and how dense the stitching should be. Octostitch is where you make those decisions.

You start from vector shapes, imported artwork, or lettering; assign each element a stitch type (running, satin, fill, appliqué and more); pick real thread colours; and Octostitch generates the actual stitches. You can then preview the stitch-out and export a file in your machine’s format.

Octostitch is built for prosumer and small-business embroiderers — people who sell what they make and need reliable, repeatable results without a subscription.

It aims to be a focused, modern digitiser that does the core job well: powerful enough for real work, without the price tag or locked-in licensing of the big commercial suites.

  • One-time payment — no subscription.
  • Free updates.
  • Cross-platform — Windows, macOS and Linux from the same design files.

Your designs are saved in Octostitch’s own .ostch format, and exported to the common machine formats (PES, DST, JEF, VP3, EXP, XXX, HUS) when you’re ready to sew.
