Custom palettes
Beyond the bundled brand charts, you can add your own palettes — for a brand Octostitch doesn’t ship, or for a pared-down chart of just the threads you keep in stock.
Palette format
Section titled “Palette format”A palette is a JSON file with a name and a list of colours. Each colour has a numeric id (the thread code), a name, and a hex value:
{ "name": "My Studio Threads", "colors": [ { "id": 15, "name": "White", "hex": "#FFFFFF" }, { "id": 1902, "name": "Spanish Red", "hex": "#B01E2D" }, { "id": 3444, "name": "Deep Navy", "hex": "#1B2A4A" } ]}Octostitch loads every palette file it finds at startup and lists them (sorted by name) in the thread bar’s Library dropdown, alongside the bundled brands.
Adding a palette
Section titled “Adding a palette”For now, palettes are loaded from the palettes folder in Octostitch’s installed
resources, alongside the bundled brand charts. Drop a .json file in the format
above into that folder and restart the app so it’s picked up; it then appears in
the Library dropdown. A palette is also a self-contained file, so you can share one by
sending someone the .json to drop into their own palettes folder.
